Fitness and Leisure!!

I just got back to work today after a nice 5 day weekend-holiday. an amazing holiday. Ugen and me spent all our time together and believe me, we couldnt have enjoyed our togetherness in a better way. Starting friday night, until wednesday morning, we have shared some very memorable moments.

The holiday was a combination of health fitness and leisure. It was very relaxed coz time was never a constraint. Has one slept for over 12 hours anytime? its an experience by itself. And believe me, its an amazingly nice feeling!!
Kodai is perhaps best known for its lake and we made the best use of it. Ugen and me hired a two seater cycle. This cycle is so much fun. I mean, its so hard to explain. One needs to experience that kind of fun. We found a very nice place to rest near the lake.We would cycle upto that point, rest for a while, admire the lake in front of us, sometimes talking, sometimes just enjoying the silence. and then ofcourse, we also went boating. we hired a pedal boat. often, we would pedal upto a particular shady area and then relax at that point. moments of absolute tranquility. Life is at its best when you have nothing to do but to sit back, relax and enjoy every moment of your life! We did go on a sight-seeing tour. Well, we couldnt really relish the beauty of a lot of places due to the number of people crowding these places and ofcouse, the most unpredictable climatic conditions. If one were to call the British Weather unpredictable, i wonder how he/she would define Kodaikanal weather. One moment it is bright and sunny and the very next minute, its all cloudy, with rain to follow.

I must make a mention of the best things i have eaten- things that have never tasted better than this one. To name these best things- bread omelette, Chikkoo ice cream, masala tea and idli sambar!

Life is full of ups and downs. Just like the Yin-Yang Principle. In all good, there is one element of bad, and in all bad there is one element of good. For me, this element of sorrow was that i lost my camera and with it, i lost some nice photos as well. Ugen did console me saying we always had our memories to carry forward. yet.....

Not to forget, on the 15th, there was this Christian festival that happens once in a year in Kodaikanal. People from all the neighbouring villages come here to witness this occasion. Well, one goes to places like Kodai to escape the crowd in the cities and enjoy the tranquility and here we are, just seeing more of them. what made it worse was that in one road, there were about four loud speakers playing loud awful music. i must admit, i am accustomed to a very quiet environment- both at work and at home. Noise was making me so depressed and i found myself waiting to get out of there.

well, thats how my stay in Kodaikanal ended. Back on Kodai road, Ugen got me the best Idli Sambar i have ever had for dinner. Wow! i mean, its so nice to enjoy the little things in life.

Back home on wednesday. I was relieved by the warmth of my home. Home sweet Home!

The Weekend

Well, the weekend started with ugen and me working on a saturday. now, that is a rarity. however, soon after work, both of us caught on a movie- Yun Hota Tho Kya Hota- which translates to "what if". Fairly simple storyline, the movie is about the 9/11 incident, featuring a few Indians who aspire to go to US for varied reasons, ultimately to die in the plane that crashed into the twin towers. the movie is taken from one man's perspective who wonders what would have happened if his wife had travelled by the same flight. a very neat movie and simple star cast.

soon after the movie, we went shopping to chennai's most happening hangout- The Spencer Plaza. I wonder how people actually fancy going here. Its always so full of people. well, apart from people who come there to shop, there are these annoying people who come there just to stand and gape at people passing by.

Thats how saturday went by. Sunday was quite. pretty relaxed. managed to catch up on some lost sleep.
Today is monday...here i am..back at work, trying to finish all the pending work and responding to emails that have come in through the weekend. Life sometimes becomes so monotonous and there is nothing one can do to change it, but be patient and hope things would get better.

i was just going through some of the other blogs. its interesting to see people cover topics on environmental pollution and other environmental concerns. This is such a good feeling. Way back, when i chose to graduate in environmental science, i found it tough to fight people who thought i was crazy to choose such an offbeat subject. Today, a lot of people are making a career in environmental studies and it seems to be the most happening subject, ofcourse apart from the more conventional ones. what can i say-keep the good going!
